Monson Savings Bank recently donated $1,000 to Wilbraham based non-profit, Rick’s Place. This donation was made as a part of the Bank’s annual Community Giving Initiative.
Dan Moriarty, Monson Savings Bank President and CEO, proudly presented the donation outside of Rick’s Place and the Bank’s Loan and Operations Center in Wilbraham.
“Rick’s Place provides folks in our communities with crucial grief support services and resources, at no cost,” said Moriarty. “The organization has improved the lives of countless people over the past 16 years. Monson Savings Bank is proud to support Rick’s Place and their amazing mission.”
Therese Ross, Rick’s Place Executive Director, shared about the organization’s goals and services offered.
“Rick’s Place provides grief support to children, teens, and their families with our peer activities, school-based programs, and community outreach. Our goal is to foster a trusting environment where those who are grieving can find comfort and community,” said Ross. “It is our vision that families we serve become more resilient and stronger together.”
Rick’s Place is a non-profit that provides grief support to youth and their families. The non-profit was founded in 2007 as an initiative of the Rick Thorpe Memorial Fund. The Post Office Park location was opened to honor the memory of Rick Thorpe, a young father and Wilbraham, Massachusetts native who died in the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11. Rick’s Place supports children, teens, age 5-18 years, and their families after a loved one has died. Via assisted, cost-free peer support groups, Rick’s Place gives youth and their caregivers a safe place to grieve, remember and honor their loved ones, and prevents the isolation that such losses can produce.
